Frequently Asked Questions

Wait– so Kelly and Dave got Married?!
Sure did!  11-7-15.  54 degrees, a bit overcast.  Fireplaces ablaze.

Was it perfect?
Sure was!

How many cars full did it take to get all that booze to the hospitality room?
3 SUVs.

I miss this wedding.  It was so much fun!  Can we do it again?
We wish!  But you can relive some of the fun by re-reading our FAQ’s below!

Open bar?
Yes.

Wait– you guys live in Miami, right? Why the heck are you getting married in Albany?
Astute.  And yes, we do.  But Kelly grew up in Hudson, NY, near Albany.  Hudson did not have enough lodging and a large enough venue to accommodate our big plans, so we expanded our search to include Albany too.  We found The Crooked Lake House and thought it was the right venue for us! Plus, who wants to go to Miami in November anyway?

Isn’t the Crooked Lake House in Averill Park, not Albany?
Ok, you caught us. Yes. And Miami sounds damned fine in November too.

Wait– so is Miami back on the table?
No. You have to go to Averill Park. We already paid the deposit.

I’m really excited to attend this wedding. Wouldn’t miss it for the world! Would you like to know if I’m planning to attend?
We would most definitely like to know that.  And what you would like to eat too.  If you have not done so already, RSVP on our online form!

Wow!  This is sounding better and better!
That’s not a question, but thanks!  We’re glad you’re excited too!

Can I bring my kids?
We plan to keep the ceremony and reception adult oriented.  We love your kids, and realize many of you are traveling from afar, and cannot easily leave them at home.  If you need to bring little ones, we’re happy to help arrange childcare for you, either at the hotel or in a suite at the wedding venue itself.  Feel free to talk to us directly to figure this out.

How should I dress?
Festive attire is requested.  Dancing shoes encouraged.

Festive attire… uh…??
Don’t worry.  Dave had to ask too.  This helped him.

Is there going to be good music?
Of course!  But we’d love your input on what you’d like to hear.  Make some suggestions for us here to make sure we play your favorites!

If I arrive to town on Friday, will I be super bored?
Heck no! We’ll be getting together Friday night to pregame for the big event at City Beer Hall. It’s walking distance from the hotel.  Walk… stumble… Potato… Potahto.  And if you get to town early, check out our ideas of what to do in Albany.

Where should I stay?
We’ll be staying at The Hilton Albany.  Full hotel block info is posted here. You are welcome to make your own arrangements outside of the group, but we promise a good time and a hospitality room hosted by Papa Shook at base camp.

What’s this talk about busses to the ceremony?  Do I want to do that?
Well, that depends on how much you plan to drink, and if you like driving cross-lots on back roads of Upstate NY. It will be about a half-hour drive from the hotel to the wedding venue, so we are providing the busses so that you do not have to worry about over-imbibing or trusting Siri with directions.

If I want to drive, can I do so?
For sure. There is plenty of parking at Crooked Lake House if you want the freedom of your own car. But if you want to sit back and relax and leave the logistics to us, sign up for the bus!

Where do I do that?
On the RSVP link. You can go back and edit your answer by filling out the form again, up until October 31.

Like Aerosmith, I don’t wanna miss a thing.  How can I stay up to date on the plans?
